TOKYO GOMEZ-ROJO CUVÉE MINAMI II

 

CLIMATIC CONDITIONS

The 2021 vintage stands out for being a dry vintage, with a very hot summer, resulting in early harvest dates. The grapes that make up this wine are of two local varieties, Monastrell and Garnacha, grown in the Raja Valley and perfectly adapted to the climatic requirements of the area, reaching excellent maturity due to its great ability to withstand drought, in the case of Garnacha, and its vegetative cycle.
The Monastrell, the last variety to be harvested, is particularly long, as well as its ability to withstand adversity from the queen of the area, the Monastrell.

 

GRAPE ORIGIN

The grapes come from vineyards located in El Valle de La Raja. The Garnacha is grown in La Atalaya, a 7-year-old vineyard plot located in front of the winery, on the northern slope of La Sierra de La Pila. While Monastrell has its origin in different old vineyards, all of them located in El Valle de La Raja.

 

AGING

Both varieties are fermented separately in 11,000-liter foudres in stainless steel tanks of different sizes. Subsequently, malolactic fermentation is carried out in the same type of tanks where the alcoholic fermentation takes place, and 30% of the wine is fermented in new 500-liter French oak barrels. Finally, the company carries out a
Aged for approximately 12 months in new and used French oak barrels.

TASTING NOTES

It is a wine in which the intensity stands out in all aspects. It has a deep red color with violet hues and medium-high layer. The nose is very aromatic, full of fruit, with ripe red and black fruit, perfectly complemented by balsamic and spicy aromas, along with toasted aromas from its time in oak barrels. The palate is expressive, with very good volume and balance. From the entry on the palate it announces its long passage, with a great center of mouth and a very pleasant final persistence, with those memories of ripe fruit and spices.
